WELCOME!

Welcome and thank you for visiting my web page. Chances are, if you are here, you are concerned about yourself or a loved one and want the best help possible. To me, that means someone who is both competent and professional: but also warm, friendly and compassionate.

My training and experience have taught me how to tailor my treatment approach to the needs of the individual or family. I do not believe in "cookie cutter" solutions. There is no "one size fits all" approach. My job, as a professional, is to help you figure out what will work for you and your family. I do that by using an integrative approach of cognitive-behavioral, family systems, and psychodynamic therapies. My approach is grounded in training and research, but tailored to the needs of the individual or family. I work closely with parents to help them support and encourage their children's positive growth and development. I have seen the strength and resiliency in people and am grateful to have been a guide on their journey.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

I graduated from the American School of Professional Psychology in Washington, DC in 2003 with a specialty in child and family psychology. I moved to the Chicago area to complete my internship with Advocate Family Care Network and the Childhood Trauma Treatment Program. During the course of my graduate studies, I was also trained by the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) in the application of Applied Behavioral Analysis. I have had the wonderful opportunity to complete trainings in a broad range of settings including schools, hospitals, and forensic settings. I have completed yoga teacher training and I am exploring the realm of yoga therapy in order to provide scientifically supported treatments that integrate the mind and body (an important component of anxiety treatment). I have been providing mental health services since 1997 and have been working in private practice since 2005.

My practice is dedicated to helping children, adolescents, and families. My specialty is in child and adolescent anxiety disorders, particularly Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder and trauma. I also have extensive experience in treating depression, self-esteem issues, parenting issues, ADHD, and behavioral disorders. I offer ongoing social skills groups for elementary and middle school aged children to help them improve their peer relations, self-esteem, and social adaptability. I will also be offering yoga therapy groups for children and adolescents with anxiety and/or depression. In addition, I enjoy working with adolescents and college-aged individuals, to assist in their growth and development, as they take on adult roles.
